Home Visit Make & Take

Create, connect, and leave with ready-to-use early childhood developmental activities.

Thursday, November 6 | 9:30 AM-12:00PM | West Des Moines, IA | $50 per Participant

Join us for a hands-on, energizing training led by award-winning Parent Educator Bonnie Forsyth. This session is designed to give home visitors a stress-free and productive space to refresh their creativity and recharge their passion for the work.

During the session, Bonnie will demonstrate three developmentally appropriate home visit activities that can be used with children ages birth through five. Each activity is grounded in the Parents as Teachers curriculum and comes with printed handouts to leave with families.

Participants will walk away with everything they need to implement the activities right away, including materials, instructions, and tips for adapting them to fit each family’s needs.

This “make and take” style training isn’t just about learning. It’s about doing. You’ll build your activity kits during the session and connect with other home visitors in a fun and relaxed environment.

We will also set aside time for open discussion. Bring your tough questions about family engagement, developmental concerns, or staying grounded as a Parent Educator. Bonnie brings real-world insight and expert guidance drawn from over 30 years of experience supporting families across Iowa.

Whether you're a new Parent Educator or a seasoned professional, you'll leave with practical tools, renewed energy, and professional development hours to support your ongoing growth.

This training is for:

  • New Parent Educators or home visitation staff who want practical, confidence-building activities for visits.

  • Experienced staff looking for new ideas and expert insight to overcome challenges.

  • All home visitors working with young children who need flexible activities that can be adapted to different ages and developmental levels.

It is especially valuable for staff who want to walk away with tangible resources, professional development hours, and a fun, refreshing few hours of learning and connection
